14-19 Education and Training

In 2005, the Government published the 14-19 Education and Skills White Paper outlining a programme of reform to the education and training system. The Paper describes a new national entitlement which will be offered to all 14-19 year olds. This entitlement allows for greater choice in the subjects and qualifications young people can study. There will also be continuing growth in provision and importance of information, advice and guidance to ensure young people make the right choices.

CAW provides our clients with the support they need to successfully keep up-to-date with current 14-19 education and training policy and plans. We have:

  • worked with the Learning and Skills Network (LSN) - formerly LSDA - to provide a clear, easy to read overview of the 14-19 education and training programme of reform;
  • developed a guide for Year 9 staff to the information, advice and guidance available to help them inform young people about post-14 options;
  • supported the development of a transport and logistics CoVE application for Thurrock and Basildon College, and worked with the college to develop an implementation plan to work with interested employers;
  • developed a booklet highlighting key points and factors that are critical to the success of the Young Apprenticeships programme and considerations on how to address these issues if local partnerships are to deliver successful YA programmes; and
  • worked with the National Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to create a high profile, easy-to-read source document containing essential information about health, safety and child protection issues as they relate to the Young Apprenticeships programme;

CAW works with our clients to establish effective working partnerships to deliver these policies and plans at local level. We provide a broad range of skills, consultancy and management models of best practice which delivers genuine benefits to the organisation.
