Equality and Diversity

Everyone is responsible for equal opportunities and diversity. Every person should feel valued and have a fair and equitable quality of working life, whatever their differences. CAW promotes equality and diversity through all its work, and values the benefits it brings to an organisation and its people.

Equality and diversity is at the centre of many public, private and voluntary sector policies, programmes and guidance. Recent EU and Government legislation continues to combat inequality in employment.

CAW can help organisations develop and implement equality and diversity policies, procedures and action plans. Recent work includes developing a local Equality & Diversity Delivery Plan to support and deliver the national LSC Equality & Diversity Strategy.

CAW’s role in implementing the plan was to:

  • design and deliver briefing sessions - each of approximately one-hour duration - aimed at increasing equality and diversity awareness of all LSC Essex staff in line with national strategy and LSC Essex priorities.  All LSC Essex staff attended one of three sessions in January / February 2006 - approx 80 people in total.
  • design and deliver three workshops - each of up to half-day duration - aimed at exploring in depth the opportunities open to, and issues faced by, those members of LSC Essex staff who interface directly with providers. The three workshops - two on EDIMs, RES, compliance and gender; one on 'Improving Choice' – were also delivered in January/February 2006.
