David worked in several senior roles in a 25 year career with the Department for Education and Skills and the Employment Service (now Department for Work and Pensions). He left the Department and set up Competence at Work Ltd in 1997. His  track record since then includes delivering a wide range of evaluation and research projects for the Learning and Skills Council, the Department for Education and Skills, the Learning and Skills Network and other organisations both working alone and as part of larger, multi-disciplinary teams.

Nowadays, David's time is split between working on the development of CAW business and delivering assignments. His project management, networking and people skills mean that CAW can always put together a project team with the best blend of skills to meet the needs of our clients - and that the teams continue to deliver projects within budget, agreed timescales and the company's ethical and quality framework.

Mark began his career 25 years ago and is a highly experienced consultant and facilitator. He specialises in the leadership and facilitation of business process and culture change to deliver performance improvement. He has worked as a freelance consultant for 3 years, developing and implementing change management strategies and implementation projects in both the public and private sector.

Mark has broad, functional experience gained from management roles in sales, marketing and the supply chain in manufacturing industries. This has included leading diverse multi-discipline, multi-culture project teams in the UK and Europe and a company-wide culture change programme aimed at increasing employee involvement and embedding "continuous improvement" tools and techniques.

Alan Garnett held a range of senior HR and operational management roles in a 26-year career with BT before becoming an independent management consultant in 1998. Since then he has specialised in HR and change management and worked on a wide range of assignments in the private, public and voluntary and community sectors.

An associate of CAW since February 2004, he has successfully completed a number of quality improvement projects for LSC national and local offices which have required expertise in operational/ strategic planning, organisation and team performance management/review and relationships/communications with customers and suppliers.

Simon has been a career civil servant for more that 30 years. He built a national reputation in leading the Department for Education and Skills work on quality and inspection for 15 years. He is also experienced in large scale organisational change management. For the last 3 years he has been the 14-19 Director for the LSC South Yorkshire where he led 14-19 Pathfinder work. He drew from that experience in assisting CAW to write the 14-19: An Introduction and 14-19: Education and Training Reforms: Implications for Information, Advice and Guidance documents. Simon is currently working to develop the Sheffield Local Authority's approach to 14-19 and is taking forward the newly-won LEGI project.

Ian has worked as a freelance trainer for 9 years and his training experience goes back over 18 years in a variety of companies and sectors. These have been in the private and public sector covering engineering, service industry, education, voluntary and community sector.

He has developed and run off the shelf courses, but specialises in consultation with the client leading to bespoke programmes, developing a sustained and professional relationship for clarity of purpose.

Karen has been a freelance trainer and facilitator for five years and has delivered programmes to a wide variety of companies. These have been in many sectors – education, public, manufacturing, service, engineering, computing, early years. Prior to becoming an associate Karen worked as a Business Studies lecturer for 10 years and a Personnel and Training Manager for 10 years. Her expertise lies in HR and soft skills training and she has worked with business start-up clients on training courses and as their NVQ assessor.

Matt has been a freelance trainer and facilitator for five years and delivered programmes in many different sectors and to numerous different client groups. These span across the education, public, service industry, community and volunteer sectors. Matt has a strong portfolio of skills in team building life coaching and is skilled at developing a long term relationship with client groups for continuous company and personal development.
